Precious life stories are lost every day as the elderly pass on or are lost to the effects of aging, stroke, Alzheimer's and other illnesses.
Many of today's elderly are part of "The Greatest Generation." They lived through the depression, fought in World War II and raised families in an ever-changing society. They witnessed the first moon landing, the Civil Rights movement and the rise and fall of Communism. They pioneered new trades, experienced rapidly-changing technologies and lived in evolving neighborhoods.
Think of the loss to society if these life stories were to simply disappear?
The LifeStory Program at Eddy Village Green seeks to preserve these stories. Our volunteers work with our elder residents, interviewing them and gathering information. Then, volunteers construct a written narrative of the elder's life story to be shared with family, friends and staff.
Eddy Village Green welcomes volunteers interested in participating in the LifeStory Program. If you would like to hear more about this exciting program, or to schedule an appointment for a volunteer interview, please contact Eddy Village Green at (518) 237-5630.
