On October 1, 2011, St. Peter's Health Partners (SPHP), a new not-for-profit organization, became the "parent corporation" for Northeast Health, St. Peter's Health Care Services and Seton Health. SPHP is the region's largest and most comprehensive not-for-profit network of high-quality, advanced medical care, primary care, rehabilitation and senior services. The state-of-the-art services and programs are provided through Albany Memorial Hospital and St. Peter's Hospital in Albany; Samaritan Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital in Troy; Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady; as well as The Eddy system of continuing care and The Community Hospice.
Northeast Health was formed in 1995 by the merger of Samaritan Hospital and The Eddy, and joined by Albany Memorial Hospital in 1997 and Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in 2007. The components of Northeast Health are deeply rooted in their communities, each with a long tradition of providing high quality care and services.
Serving 22 counties in the greater Capital Region of Upstate New York, Northeast Health cares for approximately 175,000 people each year and provides a vast array of senior care and services, hospital services, rehabilitation, specialty services and senior living options. The geographic scope of our network, coupled with the diversity of our programs and services, means that virtually every minute of every day, we're caring for generations.
Our Primary Care Network offers a full range of medical, preventive and diagnostic services for people of all ages at seven locations throughout the region, including: Albany, Troy, North Greenbush, Cohoes, Waterford, Green Island, Mechanicville and Valatie.
We're proud of our Schools of Nursing which, for more than a century, have been educating and preparing students to become skilled and competent register nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs).
As one of the region's largest private-sector employers, Northeast Health is a vital health and economic force employing over 5,000 individuals. Employment opportunities are boundless, offering individuals an opportunity to work in a friendly, supportive environment in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, home care, supportive living, rehabilitation and community service agencies.
