The Inpatient Lower Extremity Amputee Program at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital is proud of its clinical outcomes. In 2012, the program served 38 individuals with lower extremity amputation. Realizing that it is important to our patients to return home with their loved ones as soon as possible, the average length of stay for our patients was 14.3 days which compares very favorably with other inpatient lower extremity amputee rehabilitation programs in the nation and the region. The average number of therapy hours per day for lower extremity amputee patients was 3.2.
Over the years, Sunnyview has consistently discharged a greater percentage of individuals with lower extremity amputation back to their home and community. This was also true during 2012 when 71 percent of our patients returned home to continue their lives, 3 percent greater than other inpatient lower extremity amputee rehabilitation facilities in the nation and the region.
