Ventilator Weaning Program

Sunnyview can help patients who demonstrate the potential to manage without ventilator support through the Ventilator Weaning Program. This program is designed to shorten the overall recovery time by combining physical rehabilitation with the weaning process. 

Patients are evaluated by a pulmonologist, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation nurse, respiratory, physical and occupational therapists and, if appropriate, a speech pathologist and psychologist. A social worker and discharge coordinator work closely with the patient and family to develop an individualized discharge plan.
