Radiation Oncology

Radiation therapy uses high energy particles or waves, such as x-rays or electrons, to destroy or damage cancer cells. During the course of treatment, cancer cells are more susceptible to damage than normal cells.  The radiation beams that are used for treatment are about 1000 times more powerful than a standard chest X-ray.

At Samaritan Radiation Oncology, our radiation oncologists utilize the latest breatkthrough technologies, including IMRT and PET/CT scans, digital mammography, mammotone, breast MRI and stereotactic biopsy, HDR brachytherapy for multiple cancer sites, and most recently, image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT).
