Samaritan-Rensselaer Children's Center provides a secure, loving daycare environment to children eight weeks through kindergarten. The center's goal is to provide a place where children feel free to grow, explore and question. Thus, the center plans its day with each child's developmental and cognitive needs in mind. Sensory, intellectual and physical stimuli are provided...along with plenty of rocking, hugs and helping hands.
Since we understand that children are first and foremost members of families, we make every effort to ensure that families feel comfortable in -- and are knowledgeable about -- our center. Communication with families is of utmost importance. We provide a strong support network for families and an opportunity for parents' voices to be heard in the decision-making process.
Our caring teachers are trained early childhood professionals who provide a warm and nurturing environment.
The center is a not-for-profit organization and is licensed by the New York State Department of Social Services.
Daily Program - The center provides a developmentally oriented program. Since we believe that play is child's work, each room is equipped with furniture, toys and accessories that encourage the child to explore and discover.
Each day has a structure, including many periods of choice. Art, music and story times are combined with large muscle activities, field trips, and visitors. Parents are encouraged to participate by reading stories, playing a musical instrument, talking about their profession, or helping out on a field trip. Infant rooms' schedules are flexible and determined by each infants' needs.
Hours and Admissions - The center is open from 6:30 am - 5:30 pm. Making contact with a teacher at the beginning and end of each day is important. The center's door has a coded lock; parents are given the code and may come and go whenever desired.
Meals and Snacks - The Center serves two snacks (usually around 10 am and 3:30 pm) and lunch at noon. Copies of the weekly menus available. Fruits, vegetables, milk and juice are part of each day's menu.
Summer Program - Summer at RPI is a special camp, sponsored by the center, and is designed for children kindergarten - 12 years of age.
