Older adults are more susceptible to depression and behavioral health problems due to their declining health and loss of friends and loved ones. Northeast Behavioral Health Services combines the expertise of Samaritan Hospital and The Eddy to address the unique psychiatric and psychological needs of the geriatric patient.

Geriatric Inpatient Unit

A 20-bed inpatient unit at Samaritan Hospital offers a warm, attractive, homelike environment with both private and semiprivate rooms. An interdisciplinary team provides specialized care to meet the medical, psychiatric and social needs of the older adult.

Mobile Geriatric Outreach

Mobile geriatric outreach is an innovative program designed specifically for seniors residing in nursing facilities and adult homes. An interdisciplinary team evaluates and treats residents in the familiarity of their own living environment, and regularly reports progress to the individual's primary care provider. The program is helpful to residents experiencing a range of behavioral difficulties, from grief to dementia.
