Dear Friends,
I have been selected by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a candidate for “Woman of the Year.” As an oncology nurse for over 15 years, I have been witness to how LLS is able to impact the patients and families I care for in our community. I feel truly honored to compete for this prestigious title in honor of Ben Grant, a 12 year old from Guilderland, and Rylyn Swierzewski, a 9 year old from Valatie who both recently completed treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
From March 9th to May 3rd I ask that you join me in my mission to support LLS by Voting No to Cancer.
Every dollar raised during this time counts as one vote for my campaign. Unlike the 2012 presidential election, there is no limit on the amount of vote$ you can ca$t!
In this 2012 election year, it may be difficult to agree about which party or candidate would make the best choices on our behalf. But one choice is clear: no one wants to see their families, children, friends, peers and colleagues battling cancer. LLS continually works to raise the funds needed to provide services for individuals diagnosed with cancer. It is because of businesses and community members like you that LLS has been able to make steady and significant progress toward providing quality of life and choice in integrative wellness and care for those diagnosed.
Allocations from LLS toward research, education, advocacy and patient service has truly begun to transform how to diagnose and treat blood cancers. This is most apparent in the significant change in childhood leukemia survival from a rate of 3% in 1963 to a rate of over 86% today. Truly a transformation in life!
