Wound Care

Eddy Visiting Nursing Association provides guidance, education and care to individuals with wounds, ostomies and incontinence.

Our enterostomal therapy services include:

• pre-op teaching and managing of skin breakdown complications through colostomy, ileostomy and urostomy collection devices
• recommendations for catheters, urine collection devices and skin care products for incontinence
• assessment and recommendations for state-of-the-art treatments for bed sores, leg ulcers and abnormal skin lesions
• product recommendations to provide pressure relief or reduction (ex: mattresses and cushions
• educational and support programs for patients, families and caregivers.

Eddy VNA's enterostomal therapy services are provided by a specially trained enterostomal therapy (ET) nurse who is a graduate of an educational program accredited by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN). Serving as a bridge between the hospital, home and community, the ET nurse collaborates with other healthcare professionals to significantly increase the quality of patient care and help to decrease complications and expensive healthcare costs.

The ET nurse works in conjunction with physicians specializing in internal medicine, general, vascular and plastic surgery, medical and radiation oncology, gastroenterology and dermatology.
