Telehomecare

Eddy Visiting Nurse Association is proud to be the first in the Capital Region to introduce telehomecare technology which aids in the delivery of healthcare services and improves care for home care patients.

Telehomecare is an exciting new method of providing care, monitoring a patient and providing education using the latest in telecommunication technology. Telehomecare helps patient care and clinical outcomes by allowing our nurses to make "video visits" to patients homes, supplementing regularly scheduled visits and assuring more frequent and ongoing patient contact.

Using ordinary telephone lines, telehomecare enables a live audio and video connection between patients and nurse specialists. A central monitoring unit placed at Eddy VNA's office electronically connects with a small lightweight unit placed in the patient's home, allowing patients and nurses to see and hear each other clearly.

The live, two-way transmission gives nurses clear, close-up pictures of the patients, as well as heart, lung and bowel sounds, blood pressure readings, and blood oxygen levels. Patient stations are easy to use with a two-button color-coded simple operation. Patients with a variety of chronic diagnoses can benefit from the telehomecare program.
