The Eddy Resident Service Advisor Program (RSAP) is a unique service that helps seniors who live in selected senior housing communities in the Capital Region of upstate New York find and access the services they need to remain independent in their own homes.
The program offers support and assistance to older adults by linking them to a wide range of services in the community, including placement of in-home healthcare or nursing services, assistance and advocacy for seniors, and expertise in cutting through the red tape in government and agency-related problems.
The program places a resident advisor or care manager on-site at contracted senior housing complexes to serve as an advocate to help senior residents with their needs. A team of care managers collaborate to share the resources, information and collective experience of every manager to help access services or resolve problems.
Program advisors may recommend appropriate public services for which seniors may be eligible, such as food stamps or meals on wheels, and alert individuals about programs with agencies like National Grid, phone companies, or other service providers. As a result, seniors are able to make informed choices about the most appropriate healthcare and community services.
