EDDY VNA SETS 21ST ANNUAL CUISINE MAGIC GRAND TASTING TO BENEFIT HOME CARE

ALBANY, NY – March 3, 2014 – Eddy Visiting Nurse Association (Eddy VNA), an affiliate of The Eddy not-for-profit network of senior services, announces that “Cuisine Magic 2014,” its 21st annual culinary grand tasting extravaganza and benefit is set for Sunday, Mar. 23, 5:30 - 9 p.m. (reception beginning at 5:30 p.m.; dinner & program beginning at 6:30 p.m.), at the Hilton Albany Hotel, 40 Lodge Street, Albany.

    This year’s event themed “The Magic of Italy” promises a magical tasting tour of the country known for its food and wine. Scrumptious and unique dishes will be prepared by chefs from across the Capital Region. Guests will be able to sample from scores of original culinary creations served up by participating chefs and restaurants. More than 400 guests are expected. Cocktail attire.

    Congressmen Paul Tonko and Chris Gibson will serve as honorary co-chairs. Liz Bishop, news anchor at CBS 6 News, will serve as mistress of ceremonies, with Michael LoPorto, CEA, AAC, of LoPorto’s Ristorante Café, as event show chair, and James G. Rhoads, III, CEC, AAC, of Chef’s Solutions, as event show co-chair.

    Chefs and restaurants participating to-date include: Executive Chef Christopher Faraci, Carmen’s Café, Troy; Chef Sarah Fish, Café Congress, Troy; Executive Chef Philip Fitzpatrick, Hilton Albany Hotel; Executive Chef Jeremy Kane, BBL Hospitality; Executive Chef Nathan Kutzscher, Albany Marriott; Executive Chef Carmelo LoPorto, LoPorto’s Ristorante Café, Troy; Executive Chef Edward Murray, The Arlington House, West Sand Lake; Executive Chef Jordan Patregnani, Panza’s Restaurant & Catering, Saratoga Springs; Chef James J. Rhoads, Hilton Garden Inn Albany Airport; and Executive Chef Scott E. Stickle, Morrison Management Specialists.

    Highlights of this year’s theme also include a special Italian wine-tasting by Specialty Wines & More. The cocktail hour will feature Italian delights by U Mundu E Ca, with Italian desserts by The Cookie Factory. A choice of traditional red and white wines also will complement dinner.

    Guests will be able to vote for their favorite dishes in the People’s Choice Awards. The winning chefs will be presented the honors at the close of the evening. Tickets are $100 each. For more information or reservations, please contact the Northeast Health Foundation at (518) 271-5032.

    Proceeds will support programs which would otherwise have no funding, including the Eddy VNA Home Health Aide Career Ladder Program, specialty training for aides, and the Eddy Volunteer Care Team Program. Eddy VNA is dedicated to providing home health care and support services for more than 21,000 people in Albany Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Columbia and Greene counties.

    Additionally, part of the proceeds will also benefit critical technology enhancements to better serve the participants of Eddy SeniorCare/PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly), a program committed to supporting frail seniors age 55 or older who are struggling to maintain themselves in the community.
