SUNNYVIEW REHABILITATION HOSPITAL FOUNDATION RECEIVES GIFT FROM CREDIT UNIONS

SCHENECTADY, NY – March 27, 2013 – The Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation has received a donation of nearly $1,200 from the Credit Unions Cares for Kids Program, which is comprised of Hudson River Community Credit Union, TCT Credit Union, and Saratoga’s Community Credit Union.

The funds will enable Sunnyview to purchase two IPads for bedside use with inpatients and outpatients at the hospital, as well as for children Sunnyview treats from the Head Start program of Schenectady County.

The computer technology will enable the use of applications to help children with a variety of conditions, including swallowing issues, articulation in speech therapy, literacy, math and language skills. Additionally, the technology will help adolescent patients with traumatic brain injuries to think, reason and problem-solve, as well as augment communication for those individuals who can no longer speak but can touch and allow the IPads to speak for them.

Founded in 1928, Sunnyview’s 115-bed rehabilitation hospital is one of the largest of its kind in the nation. It provides acute medical rehabilitation services as well as comprehensive outpatient services to patients in 40 counties from 10 states.
