TROY, N.Y. -- Eddy Visiting Nurse Association (Eddy VNA), an affiliate of The Eddy not-for-profit network, has recognized three Capital Region health care professionals with its annual "2012 Care Award" for their outstanding efforts in advocating for, and improving the quality of life for area patients.
The winners are: Bev Nichols, elderly disabled service coordinator for the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority; Debbie Moore, nurse care manager for the progressive care unit at St. Peter's Hospital; and Barbara Alexander, social worker for the orthopedics unit at Albany Medical Center. The awards were presented at the "Eddy Annual Case Managers' Breakfast" held on May 10 at the Albany Marriott.
The winners were selected from nominations submitted by their peers. Nominees have demonstrated ongoing professionalism and commitment in advocating for patients, and finding solutions to issues that impact their patients' health and well-being.
Lydia Kulbida, news anchor from News 10 ABC, served as the keynote speaker. More than 250 health care and allied professionals attended the event, which is held annually to honor the dedication of all those who help facilitate care for patients across different settings, including case managers, social workers, and hospital discharge planners.
